WORDS OF AFFIRMATION TO BUILD YOUR PARTNER’S SPIRIT

Building a healthy relationship in the 21st century can be so demanding: you have to go out, work with different people, face different challenges, but still be a sweet lover. At the end of the day, what does your partner needs?

Definitely not more troubles and headaches…

Relationships ain’t just about kissing, cuddling, going on vacations together, and all sort of romantic adventures, but as much as the relationship provides passion for you, you’ve got to support your lover and have each other’s back when you know they are nervous, overwhelmed or down about something. You’ve got to be emotionally sensitive and supportive to your partner.

Physical and emotional support are key to improving and maintaining a healthy relationship.

Appreciation, a little pat on the back, fondly hug, holding of a loved one’s hand or cuddling your partner after a bad day can do the trick of boosting your partner’s spirit and make them feel refreshed to carry on with their work in life, and working more on the relationship.

You can show emotional support by offering genuine encouragement, reassurance, physical gestures of affection and verbal expressions of sympathy.

BENEFITS OF SHOWING EMOTIONAL SUPPORT/WORDS OF AFFIRMATION

1. It helps strengthen communications in your relationship.

2. It helps you show your partner you notice and appreciates them.

3. It nurtures emotional intimacy.

No matter what your love language is, showing affection is an important part of any healthy relationship.

Here are some words of encouragement that can help boost or brighten your spouse after a dull and gloomy day and also make them feel loved and cherished:

• I believe in you: “listen, I know you’re going through a difficult time with your boss, family, in your career, but I just want to tell you that I believe in you”.

• I love you: These 3 words can go a long way in affirming to your partner how much you love them and care for them, especially when said in a special way. There’s a popular saying that ‘the more something is emphasized, the more it sticks to the mind’.

• I’m here for you: “Hey babe, I feel something is wrong and you’re not telling me yet. I just want to remind you that I’m here for you always”.

• I want to spend the rest of my life with you: There’s nothing as sweet as hearing from your partner that they cherish you find you worthy enough to spend eternity with you. It shows you’re accepted and loved, and this would give you the push to be committed and do better so as to make it worthwhile.

• I’m proud of you: how do you feel when you hear your loved one telling you they feel so proud of you when you do something or an achievement? Like a little soft baby, you feel so colorful and elated. You feel so proud of yourself too.

• How can I support you?: This question can be so tricky as they might not effect what message you’re trying to pass across. Coz evidently, someone going through a tough time may not know exactly what he or she needs, this, answering the question might be difficult for them. Hence, you can rather ask them, “how have you been holding ip?” Or “what’s been happening in your life lately?” from there, you can listen and provide any support you can at the moment.

• You look so beautiful/handsome today

• You’re incredible at everything you do

• You can do this

• You’re so thoughtful

• You make my life so beautiful

• We’ll do this together
